Remembering Julia's 1st Halloween in our new house...  She was a week away from being 3.  She whined about her costume and didn't want us to brush her hair.  We could hardly get her to go to the first door - then those people put CANDY in her bag ... and she was OFF!

She literally RAN from door-to-door.  Couldn't bother with sidewalks, just went straight through the yards!  We could NOT keep up with her!!!  She'd bang on the door and if they didn't answer in less than 3 seconds - she'd try to OPEN THE DOOR and even walked into a couple houses by the time we'd caught up with her!!!  Her siblings were DONE after 4 streets, but she just kept going... and going... and going!  She wore us all out!  Then, she didn't even want the candy - just gave it to her siblings.  Too Funny, Little Sis!

Well, Next Tuesday my Trick-or-Treat baby is gonna be turning 17 - Then next year she'll be graduating - then the year after that she'll be heading out on a mission!  SOOOOO not ready for this!!!!  Kids should come with a Pause button!!!  :'(

Sometimes I am such a dork!

OK – so my brain and body have NOT been getting along very well for years now, but things have definitely gone to the next level - with both sides engaging in cross-the-border skirmishes.

Problem is, my brain still thinks we are in our early 20’s and constantly wants to embark on everything Pinterest has to offer.

The body – with all my medical maladies – thinks it’s now pushing 80 and replies with, “Yeah, you have fun with that, cuz I’m going upstairs to take a nap.”

At which time the brain retaliates by going into Super-Hyper mode, meticulously reexamining – in minutest detail - all the most trivial things which have occurred in the past 30 or so years of our life – thereby causing the exhausted body to lie upon our bed – wide awake – staring at the ceiling, WISHING we were all asleep!  This sort of thing can go on for HOURS!  : )

So today I woke up at 4 – ready and rearing to go!  Went downstairs and cooked, and cleaned, and baked … and by 9 I had pretty much exhausted myself and used up about an entire week’s worth of energy.

By 10 I was heading back upstairs for a 2 hour nap, feeling like a Christmas toy that requires 6 D-cell batteries, only these batteries are those manufacturer-type batteries that came with the toy… and were manufactured in China… and somebody left the toy running this morning so that I’m now in full-on Sloooo-Moooo mode.

Never fear, I’m still a Ferguson, so no matter how low the batteries get, my family is STILL going to figure out a way to have FUN!  Bring it on!!!

Sometimes we are ALL dorks – Dorks that know how to have good, clean, old-fashioned F-U-N!

Soooo Excited I couldn't even sleep!

The 2 Boy AND 2 Girl Grandies (Grand Nieces and Nephews) are coming over today to go with us to the Trunk-Or-Treat ... Games and a costume parade and face painting and a Chili Cook-off, then Trunk-Or-Treating! And if that weren't enough FUN already - the Boy Grandies are spending the night for their parents anniversary!!!

Plus also, the girl Grandies' family
are vegetarian and on the container of mixed beans from Costco there was a recipe for "Gourmet Bean Vegetarian Chili"... The beans are soaking in the Crock Pot now... And the Carne Asade Chili - because my family will NEVER be vegetarians - is simmering on the stove - making my house smell yummy!!!

There will also be Green Chili Cornbread Muffins later today - because right now there are TWO loaves of banana bread baking in the oven.

Yes Siree - - It's going to be a GREAT DAY!!! : )

Oh Joy of Joys ... I "get" to re-do the nerve test!

In case you've never had this never-to-be-forgotten experience, that's the test where the Dr. says, "Here, sit in my chair while I put 6-inch long needles in your forearm that will cause your entire hand to feel as if it's being engulfed in a ball of fire.

"Then, for even more fun, I'm going to put this thingy here that looks like the top of a 9-volt battery on your elbow.  That one will cause your entire arm - all the way up to your shoulder - to instantly become completely dead ... for about an hour.  But don't worry, because on your way home it will wake up and throb like the worst tooth ache you've ever had for the next few days."

Pretty sure that's what he will be thinking, even if he's actually saying, "This might be a little uncomfortable."

Is there anything better to the taste buds than a Crock Pot FULL of Home Made Chili???

Oh wait ... Maybe the fact that your husband is the one who chopped up all the veggies and made the Chili???

Oh wait ... Maybe the fact that the Chili was made with Carne Asada meat that was on SALE???

Oh wait ... Maybe the fact that the Chili is being used as a topper for Mexicali Cornbread?????

O ... M ... Geeeeeee!   : )

12 Sep 2012

Been thinking about all those times when I was a kid and I had to go to bed.
I can remember thinking, "Man, when I'm an adult I'm gonna stay up as late as I want to!"
Now I AM an adult and for the past hour the only thing I've been thinking is, "Isn't it bedtime, YET???"

lol - I've been typing for almost 40 years...
I've had this phone for maybe two...
Having problems lately with exclamation key issues... and I use the exclamation key a LOT!!!
The darn thing kept disappearing and a Capital A was in it's place!
Anyways, finally figured out it's because I want to Shift+A instead of Shift+1 now...
Check out your phone and you'll see why... lol!!!
